Inquiry On How To Remove The Throttle Body (Spi)

Best Answer Pops_Guild , 08 December 2021 - 03:49 PM

Hi guys.
Does anyone know a link to the detailed removal video of the throttle body of the spi engine?
I want to work on the engine head, but I'm stuck at removing the throttle body.

I think you actually mean the removal of the inlet manifold (on which the throttle body and hydraulic body sit) when it's in situ on the engine?

I did a series of YouTube videos the other week which go through the step by step re-assembly of all of that when it's off the car that might help get your head around what is there...

Obviously you'll have to reverse what I do in order to work it out :)

But if you just want to remove it all so you can get the head off, then that's just a matter of disconnecting all the hoses (fuel and water) and electrical connections (take photos!!!) and then undoing the manifold studs, (but support the exhaust and exhaust manifold when you do that) and it'll all come off in one heavy lump. if you want to get head off just remove inlet manifold from head with throttle body assy. still attached, same as you would removing carb. can normally get to head nuts with deep 13mm socked working underneath inlet manifold. if you do fully disconnect throttle body will need to reset idler stepper motor after refitting or you will have no idle.
