Just came across this carb design today....

SC2_Family-800x509.jpg

Originally developed for small dirt bike 2-stroke applications but has been fitted to 1000 c.c. Ducatti race bikes.

Flat side throttle slide, semicircular cross section "needle", auto-compensation for air pressure via float bowl air pressure equalization.

Wonder if it could be adapted for a mini?

Sounds like someone is just trying to copy the SU. Or never seen an SU.

I was thinking along the same lines, it does seem very much like a modern attempt at an SU carb

Well it does have some similarities....as no extra jets or "power" pump. But the internal float pressurization feature and semi-circular needle are not SU derived, correct? Plus its flat side configuration...which seems to be a holy grail thing on classic bike forums I frequent. Not sure what happens when choke for cold starting is needed?

Auto float pressure bla bla bla, does this mean it has a vented float bowl?Race anything is not always desirable on a road car. They are very shiney though and I expect the plastic parts will love being close to the exhaust.Just my jaundiced view.Steve..

Is it just me that switches off when I read, "resulting in increased power (10% More HP) using less fuel (30% Improved Fuel Economy)"?

I had the misfortune of coming across a lectron back in the mid 80s when I was part of a race team, at the time it was hailed as the next great thing, try as we might we couldn't get the engine to run cleanly so we went back to a mikuni, in fact we had more luck with a Wal Phillips fuel injector which was little more than a semi controlled drip feed, great top end power but a total git in a race situation. From a personal point of view I would avoid it like the plague

there are several race bike carbs, Mikuni RS Series, Keihin CR Racing, all fit most 7port heads or single use
