I have a 998 a+ engine for my mini. It’s not the original engine which allegedly seized some time before I bought the car. I’ve never seen this engine running. I presume it’s been bored at some stage.

I need new piston rings. My pistons are all stamped AE 20773 +0.508 JFT.

It’ll be my lack of experience no doubt but I cannot understand what the +0.508 means. I presume if these were size +0.60 or +0.40 they would be stamped as such.

Can anyone elaborate on what size my pistons are and what the JFT stands for?

Thanks
