Hello, question about the mini special plastic arches (standard arches)
From some pictures on the web, I see that some seem to have a texture on the surface, and some others do not (In plastic raw material)
If there are 2 types of finish, where can I get the smooth finish from?

Id like to save some sanding time if possible :) Thank you!

I don't think I've come across special arches without texture before.

Only aftermarket ones are available new now anyway.

It's simple enough to prep them loosong the texture.

They need a light sand with a red scotchbrite pad and then a coat of adhesion promoter (plastic primer).

Then you can give them several coats of high build primer which cam them be flatted back to Bury the texture.

Depending on the highbuild primer l, you may need to repeat with a few extra coats after flatting.

Aerosol highbuilds are basically different coloured normal primer. Only proper highbuild out of a spray gun will minimise the number of coats and amount of sanding.

Cheers

I did mine with bumper black paint. Scotchbrite & clean. Then plastic primer. Followed up with plastic bumper topcoat and finally plastic clearcoat. Came out really well, clenliness is paramount.

I bonded then filled and smoothed a set to a de seamed mini a few years ago. No joins and no texture after filling and sanding.

They seem not to fit perfectly out the box in the back of the car.

I assume nothing that a heat gun cant fix?

That’s a front arch.

Edit: Just had a closer look and what looked like a seam cut out ain’t. Not to mention the rear end.

That’s a rear arch, and yes, I used a heat gun to soften the plastic slightly.

You can either hold the end of the arch with your hand, of put some masking tape on it until it cools.
