Hi guys, I've been looking for an asterisk stamp as used in the scuttle VIN, for quite a while.

 

The only stamp I've found is the stamp from McMaster: https://www.mcmaster.com/1574T371/

 

Is this the exact / similar asterisk in size & shape as the original VINs from 1980 on?

 

If not, does anyone have a better suggestion where to find one (preferably in the Netherlands or Europe)?

I used an "I" and built it up to be an asterisk with a vertical, horizontal, then one at 45degs to left and one at 45degs to right.

Plenty of local shops with a quick search to stars/asteriks'

Measure one and it should be pretty easy. Alternatively: have you tried asking in the Dutch Mini Seven Club?

@colinf1, thanks! I read that somewhere as well. Did you do it freehand? What's the end result like?

 

@Spherix, thanks for your suggestions. These stamps I found as well, but they all look square instead of rectangular. Also, they have 6 points instead of 8 in the original VIN number.

It seems that the Dutch Mini Seven Club is quite agressively monitoring and modding any question regarding stamped VIN numbers and stamps. That's why I asked on this forum, which also has a broader and more active membership base.
