No matter what panel you buy you will need to trim it down, but my thinking here is once you remove the crossmember to fit the inner sill you may find more rust so then you would need the larger panel for length.

No matter what you will still need to trim the floor panel which ever one you buy to take into consideration the inner sill to first flute.

I understand where you are coming from ref the panel size etc but knowing how well our little cars like to rot having more material than needed can be a boon.

All of this is a recommendation however and the final choice is yours to make and I also understand there is the extra cost due to your location.

alright great! so can i take off the crossmember now to have a look? do i need to strengthen the car at all before removing? may as well see what's there and then order accordingly.

I don't see why you need to remove the crossmember to replace the inner sill, surely you can just leave it in place, remove the inner sill and carefully slice the floor away underneath it and then insert the new panel.

If the crossmember needs replacing anyway then fair enough but if its ok I would leave it as the less you remove the less you need to put back and the more datum points you have.

as sonik said above seems like both ways are possible but will see how it goes when i get round to install it. ordering my last few panels. hopefully can get stuck into it soon.

Ok, in those immortal words "thats fubared"

So now its more work for you and the welder. And the issue here is you are going to need the following panels.

Now this is all from M Machine which is not ideal for you but at least you will know what you exactly need.

The inner sill is toast, that has to be replaced in entireity. The jacking point as well. So lets deal with that first.

http://preview.m-mac...i catalogue.pdf

14.33.01.28 Sill to First Groove Assembly, Complete, RH, 6 Flute Sill £98.00 £117.60

11.32.06.02 Jacking Point, RH, Mk1-4 £8.80 £10.56

I have purposely left off the internal slinging brackets and external as they really are not needed.

Next is the doorstep

13.14.00.38 Extended Step, RH, Mk3 on £37.50 £45.00

Now for the A panel and flitch

13.21.00.18 Hinge Panel Repair, RH, Mk3 on £24.00 £28.80

For the life of me i cannot see an A panel on the catalogue so this is from Minispares, Heritage panel and Pattern panel

hoping everyone had a good break.

about to order the extended door steps u suggested but have noticed that they are not made by m-machine although stocked by them. They're made by magnum. Everywhere on the mini forum suggest these panels are very bad.

I rechecked the condition of the panel which closes off between the companion bin and outer sill (companion bin floor) there is only surface rust in that area which should polish up nicely. so perhaps I don't need the extended panel?

I've emailed mmachine asking if the non-extended door steps they stock are made by them "13.14.10.17 Detailed Door Step, LH, Mk3 on".

otherwise can get the heritage ones instead? (although bloody expensive :ohno: ) the heritage panel also doesn't include the extended bit.

yeah mmachine have advised all their doorsteps are magnum except for the mk1s.

im thinking of using the genuine heritage ones. the companion bin closing panel is okay. i can clean them up.
