Hi everyone

Could I ask please if there are any recommendations for a jig or rotisserie that are highly recommended.

The reason I have asked rather than searched is because there will probably be newer products on the market.

I have a chance at my first mini the body shell is already off and sitting on a couple of pallets looks like it has been outside for a long while the rest of the car is in boxes, I know I should know better but I suppose I have to start somewhere and I used to MIG a bit back in the mists of time keeping wife’s Spitfire on the road, but it was a very long time ago.

So this would be to work on the shell but also to be able to move it. I presume it is safe to put a whole body shell onto a jig, it is rather rusty.

Kind regards

Ian

I have this type

https://www.rollover...ini-saloon-jig/

I've used it on dozens of minis and it just works great.

Comes apart for storage and can be specced to include castors which are a must for me.

They do supply loading tools as an optional extra but I didn't like those so they don't get used.

You do need to make sure the pivot point is central when loading the shell on or it makes it harder to spin but that's easy.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben

That’s fantastic and thanks.

I had seen those in my searching on the internet and your validation has sealed it.

Thanks again

Ian

Im going to have a go at making a jig.
Does anyone happen to know what size box section is used?
I was thinking of 50x25mm -2mm wall.

Mine was 40x40. In retrospect I would have used a bit bigger as this flexes quite a bit. I would use a square section since when it is on its side rectangular section is weaker.

Thanks for that Mark.
I cant see from the picture but did you run any box section from the footboard subframe mount holes to the bits that come over the slam panel?
I plan on doing that to reduce any flex.

I agree with Ben, I have one of these and easy to take apart and to use. Plus you can use with other cars not just a Mini

#7. No I didn't, but I would think it's a good idea.
