Good afternoon, having fitted a new water pump (Minispares GWP134EVO) to my pre A+ 998 block I have noticed that the top alternator fixing hole in the pump body sits higher than the corresponding hole in the rear bracket. The fixing holes in the bracket are slotted but only horizontally. As the old pump (which I think got binned) fitted okay my first reaction was to suspect that the shape of the new pump was the problem. However, I’m assured by Minispares that all their pumps are the same in body shape so I’m a bit confused! Has anyone else faced this issue and, if so, how was it resolved? I have asked Minispares to actually compare their pumps and let me know if they are all the same or not.

have you tried loosening off the bolts that hold the rear alternator bracket and see if you can re-align it to the water pump

The face of the bracket looks out of line to me as if the bracket needs twisting anti-clockwise. That should help lining it up.

This ^

Slacken both bolts, then push up on the alternator end of the bracket, you'll find it has quite a range of adjustment.

While the holes are slotted horizontally and will slide that way, you can slide on just one hole, which will raise or lower the bracket height.

Did not the A+ lose the dowels? Have a play with loose bolts.

Thanks for replies, I have got it sorted. Jumped the gun a bit with my post I’m afraid. Should have looked at it more closely before coming on here. There is enough range on the slotted holes, more in fact than I thought there would be so all’s well.

sonscar, the pump is fully home but only at the second attempt. I wasn’t happy first time around after failing to do a dry fit. So to be sure took it off and found it very tight on the dowels. Eased them and it went on as it should. When will I stop making work for myself?
