Not that I'm aware of.  The maintenance free joints aren't an adaption from the original joint, but a complete unit. As you know, when you take an original type from the packet, there's many separate and for all intents, interchangeable parts - the Pin, Cup, Seat, Spring (for the lower joint), Seal, Lock Washer, Shims, Nut and Spring Washer. These maintenance free joints are the Joint itself, the Lockwasher, Nut and Spring Washer. Included too is a Hex (Allen) Key. The Joint for all intents, doesn't come apart. The Hex Key fits inside the top threaded end of the Pin, presumably to enable the assembler to hold the Pin fast, while tightening the Nut. I didn't find this an issue what so ever, perhaps though, if the Nut was a Nyloc type, the Hex Key might be handy.

On looking at and thinking about the original style joints, the factory fitted originals (these were made by TRW), were an appropriate grade of steel and hardened in an appropriate way. I always found, as long as there was some grease in them, they'd basically last forever. The current range of replacements are no where near as hard as the originals, and the depth of hardness is considerably less. On thinking about the make up of these and how they 'wear' or rather fail due to scoring / scuffing, I feel these would fair WAY better fit at the very least, the Seat in them was a much softer material, like one of the wonder plastics that are used in just about every other ball joint fitted to most other cars out there.
