Hi all,

I have booked in a roiling road session to get my car all set up, mainly to make sure the carb is all correct.

I was looking to replace the exhaust, it seems like the previous owner has out a Maniflow "cooper free" style 3-1 into a 2 box rc40 system,

looks like it has been on the car a few years and after seeing the state of the cooling system - i thought best to just go over everything a renew or improve,

what does every one suggest ?

Many thanks

Free flow exhaust manifold onto a single box Rc40 side exit system.

You'll maybe lose a couple of bhp but you won't have the Y Pipe to deal with like an LCB type

The issue with the Y piece is getting it not to leak

Mikalor style clamps and exhaust silicone. You must leave the silicone 24 hours to harden before starting up; if you don't, the exhaust gas will blow the silicone out. Using this method has always given me great results first time.

You pays your money and takes your choice. No right or wrong answer, it's just what we become comfortable with.

I have always used the ones supplied with the Y-piece and have never had any problems. I don't even use exhaust paste.
One thing I always do is weld the Y-piece to the exhaust pipe, then make sure there is plenty of engagement of Y-piece to LCB.
