Hello.
Whilst trying to locate an oil leak from back of gearbox, I noticed that this bit isn't sitting flush and looks wonky. What is this bit called? Is it cast into the gearbox or a separate item?
Thank you in advance.
Neil

This is the pin holding the selector forks in the gearbox.

There is a small O-ring between it and the casing, and it should be a press fit.

It's called Bellcrank pivot pin.

They do normally sit slightly proud. I’d be surprised if it’s wonky, if the gearbox generally works OK.

There is a rubber o-ring sealing it but they rarely leak - I’d want to be very sure there was a problem before changing it as it is a full gearbox strip down job.

You can tap them out and replace the seal, then tap it back in but as previously stated, it's a full gearbox strip.

Oil nearly always ends up at that point being the lowest making it look like it is leaking but I have never seen one leak yet.

Thanks all. I have cleaned up the bottom of the gearbox and will take a look tomorrow morning to see where the oil is leaking from.

I get a few drops of oil there too. check out the drive flange oil seal where the pot joint goes in just above it. My next job is to replace that seal.

Neil, Did you find the leak? If so, where was it coming from?

You were right. Looks like it is coming from drive flange oil seal. Going to sort my brakes first then work out what needs to be done to stop this leak. You done yours yet?

Not yet. Waiting for when its time to change my oil. When all my oil is drained out, then I'll do it. I guess you could tilt the car up on one side and do it. Never done it before, so it will be a learning experience for me. :)

I have looked on Minispares for the oil seal and gasket kit, but contacted guesswork for the complete unit so will do it all together (hopefully)
