I just replaced my clutch plate on my verto clutch system on my MK2 mini with 1300 engine. However, instead of original 190mm, I put in a 180mm verto clutch instead (bought without verifying🤦‍♂️).

Car was able to get into gets when engine is inactive. But unable to get into gear when engine starts. Bearing checked good, clutch arm moves.

What am I missing?

Did you reset the stop nut clearance?

Does the clutch arm move enough? Check the pins/arm/plunger for wear. The clevis pins are cheap to replace, so new ones are a good idea. The push-rod clevis pin hole can elongate, again cheap so replace it. The plunger wears on the inside where the lever-arm pushes against it. A severe concave recess here means a new one is needed. Wear on the lever-arm is usually on the ball at its base. This pushes the plunger in. If there’s a flat worn on it, replace it otherwise it won’t disengage the clutch properly. Wear on this ball causes clutch malfunction because of the leverage ratios involved. When very worn it causes the slave cylinder piston to reach the stop-ring before the clutch properly disengages.

agree with all above but worked before changing plate? sounds stupid but is top hat in and seated correctly on flywheel and as mentioned before is stop set correctly. try with stop nut and locknut removed to test. then refit and set if ok to repeat

I assume you were using a Vetro set up before the clutch change\?, as standard a MKII would have a non vetro clutch and the master cylinders are different.

Hi all, thanks for reply. The car was converted to verto clutch and was running fine on the 190mm verto clutch prior.

I have added pic of the pressure plate for reference.

Did the keyway line up on the end of the crank? What torque did you use on the bolt?

Did you put the sleeve ove the crank before bell housing went back on ?
