So after I missed all driving last year due to a motorcycle incident, we’re getting ready for 2022.
First up is the Oldtimer Classic Rallye "Fränkisches Seenland" am 02. April 2022.

I’ve got some work to do in the meantime…

Hi twirley,

Where are you located? I guess it's not Hemmingen in the Hannover region if you intend to participate in that rally.

Anyway I wish you lots of fun driving your Mini.

Cheers from the Pied Piper's Town

Hi MaximMini,

No I’m in the Hemmingen near Stuttgart.
I lived in Hildesheim for a while, not too far from the PiedPiper’s home.

Wife has been updating her blog…
I’ve been too busy cursing, bleeding and swearing under the car, and over it.

I was thinking I should have bought the Lancia Beta coupe… until it all came together last weekend.

And finally up to date:

Note the very forced selfy pic… I had the car running at 140km/h on the autobahn with Porsche and every other Schweinehund flying past us.
I promise to try to smile next time

Been coming up with a cheap and flexible navigator area.
Most of the vintage rallies over in EU are GLP or 1/100 regularity rallies.
Allowed equipment is dependent on the rally organisers.

The terratrip classic is pretty much universally allowed. I popped out the ashtray, remodelled the housing with a Dremel and you’ve got a pretty solid rally computer mount that can be removed quite easily if you want to put the ashtray back in…

For the rest, I decided a different solution: Velcro.

The digital stop watches are normally allowed (it’s a 90’s mini… I had a digital watch then).
The radio clock is depending on the event rules, as is the countdown timer.

Well we managed to make it to the end!
Bit chaotic due to weather… but a total blast.

New to do list:
Speedometer cable has either snapped again or come loose on the drive home today.
Got a feedback that the reverse light is coming on sometimes as we’re driving.
There are a few new noises… a lot of rattling and a bit of a whine turning right.
Exhaust for sure was hanging a bit lower by the end. I’ve ordered new hangers.
At least the leaking oil was washed off the underside by the deeper snow drifts, though we nearly ended in the hedge or ditch a couple of times.
