Starting a 1098 engine rebuild and I’ve received a set of 2c6742030 Hastings Piston rings.
For the oil control ring I’ve got this octagon shaped ring. The previous oil rings only had 3 parts: top rail, expander and bottom rail.
Does this extra part go inside the expander?

The 'Hex' piece usually is the expander in that type of ring.

Thanks Spider, I’ve Sussed it now. First time rebuilding an engine and didn’t want to muck it up.
