Hi all,

I bought these calipers on eBay, before really knowing enough about the Metro conversion. I'll be at a stage where I'll be building the subframe up and putting brakes on soon, and just got round to getting these out of the shed. I don't think they are the turbo brakes, as the advert says non vented (my mistake being a noob). They are 4 pot APs.

I live around the corner from Big Red Brakes and was going to get them restored. Question is, should I bother, and can I use them, if they aren't the Turbo ones?

They are just early Metro solid disc brakes. Perfect to use. Vented discs just don’t get up to temp.

all metros later on have vented discs.

do a dry build of your brakes before you send them for a rebuild to check you have all the bits you need and they work together.

Perfectly good caliper to use, vented would be better for a track car, vented also pushes the wheel out further. You will require these bolts to mount the calipers.

Sorry vented don’t always push out the wheels more. But yes they can.

They should be a direct replacement, but they have metric fittings, hence the bolts Viz linked & you can get hose conversion kits. The bleed screws are on the small side though with a tendency to shear, so replace them as a minimum. If you have a build up also slip your wheels on, there's the odd one that has clearance issues.
