Hi everyone, This may sound ridiculous but the headliner on my '77 Mini IMA Estate is buzzing. Like right over my head! The fabric isn't sagging and it looks perfectly fine, but apparently the metal rods are vibrating against the inside of the roof. I can put my hand on them and it quiets down. Other than driving around with my hand supporting the rods, does anyone have a similar problem and suggested resolution? Was thinking maybe I could try gently opening the headliner from the side and slide some sort of fiber fill above the rod frame. 

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't know whether it's useful or not but in the manufacturing they used to put some sponge in a channel that runs down behind the front screen pillar. This was to stop air rushing up through
and to lower noise. If you carefully peel back the headlining in either front top corner you may be able to see if any sponge is present.

Or wear a tall padded hat

But be aware that foam was great for sitting there wet through and rotting the pillars out from the inside!

Yes that's the problem I had! A hole in the corner of the roof because of the wet foam, which I never refitted

I would drop the headlining on one side and put something between the roof and the metal frame to stop the buzzing.
