I would like to replace the seat belts on my MPI with alternatives. Has anyone done this and what did you use? thanks Nick

Why not replace with like for like? Check out minispares website they have some decent OEM like ones, and if you pay £5 to become a TMF member you get discount at Minispares

Harnesses are an alternative....either loved or hated....

Why do you not favour seatbelts?

each time I search for rear seat belts for MPI they always exclude MPI? The old ones are tatty so static belts would be OK. Any ideas? thanks Nick

I remember as a kid my dad fit harnesses in the back of the old Cortina (long before the days of child seats) I hated them it felt like being strapped into the buggy

I'd rather have them now though especially if driving in a lively fashion, a lot less being flung about from side to side

MPi will be limited as they have the pretensioner built in. If you take that out I expect the airbag system will throw errors (which will fail an MOT). If it's anything like modern cars this can be averted by putting a ~3ohm resistor across the connector but you will also have to tell your insurance company.

I now know that FDTS could have re-webbed the pretension fronts saving having to replace them with non genuine. I may still do that and sell the new Securon fronts.

Thanks for your help.
