Stupid idea #378
Would this work?

1. Air Filter
2. Webber Downdrafts
3. Supercharger

4. Intake from the supercharger into the back of the inlet manifold

5. One-way valve to dump excess pressure back into the inlet (or atmospheric)

I know nothing about superchargers but to my eyes it looks as though the supercharged air will go up through the carbs and to atmosphere as well as into the head.

presumably you mean point 4 going into the top (in) side of the carbs and point 2 is the lower (out) side of the carbs, into the head

definitely no expertise here either just pointing out the diagram is a bit unclear

would blow back out of the carb inlet, supercharger needs to draw through carb. have seen it done with weber over clutch housing and supercharger at rear of engine, already a kit in common use for su in this format.

Don't quote me, but i'm sure webers don't like boost THROUGH them.. as it gets very complicated.

is he also using webber? interested to see if using it before or after supercharger

checking on their site, yes supercharger is at the front this is not new, but the issue here has been placing carb after supercharger. if you search can only find su or throttle bodies used as blow through, webbers have only been used as draw through. and you would need to fabricate a flange to join to webber inlet trumpets, not put above as shown in poject 84s' pics at start of this thread

I dimly remember Webber's need to be in a pressurised box to equalise the float chamber pressure when blown through.Could be wrong,Steve..

Yep when blowing through a carb you need to make the pressure in the float bowl rise as fast ( or faster) than boost. on the metro turbos's have a restrictor ring on the inlet to the carb, to make this happen. another  way is to use a pitot tube.

obviosly the float chamber needs to be sealed, and fed by boost.

float chamber fuel pressure needs to be higher than boost but fed by it!!?

ok, float chamber needs to be at boost pressure, but the jet needs to be at a lower pressure, hence the carb restrictor....

the general terminoligy is the float chamber needs to be "at boost pressure" rather than atmospheric
