Hi guys,

Just put a set of new rockers together (C-AHT436) and I am finding the surface of the pedestal has a milled finished and is making the rocker "notchy" against the fine grooves. Is this normal?

I am thinking of putting .40 thou spacer washers (AEG168) in between the rocker and pedestal, but it seems odd that I will have to put in 8 washers to fix the problem.

I have attached pictures below, hopefully it shows the grooves on the pedestal.
Cheers

7 out of 8 of my forged rockers have a shim of some thickness between them and the post, it means that they're aligned perfectly with the valves. I suppose a byproduct is that they move smoothly, but to be honest I haven't noticed any roughness against the posts without shims.

I would not worry about it.

The shims are only fitted to align the rockers with the valves. The Rockers do have a wide pad and so will tolerate a fairly wide valve off-set in any case.

There is usually some small side thrust in the Rockers. If it were me, I'd dress the pedestals. Several ways that can be done, a sheet of emery on a flat plate and rub the pedestal over it is one simple way and wouldn't take too long.
