Hi all, It feels like the answer to  my question is going to be somewhere on this site but I can’t find it so sorry if it’s been covered but here goes.

I am looking at wheel options for my Mini Van. I want to keep the standard offset so the wheels sit in the arch as standard.

I have measured the steel wheels for offset (I think) and measured from the mating face to the outer most point on the outer rim and it is 34mm.

Does this mean I need et +34 ?

If I go to 5” wheels how does that affect the offset required?

The wheels are 114mm wide so 4 1/2”

Van is still on drums around

Hopefully this makes sense

I am still restoring the van but thinking about options as I am attending Himley Hall show so a good opportunity to buy

Looking forward to your thoughts

Cheers Steve

the offset is a measure the distance between the mating surface and the centreline of the wheel, not the edge; positive values indicate the mating surface is outside of the centreline, and negative figures inside

according to the reference below, the LP918 4.5" reverse rim has ET16 offset, which fitted to a drum braked car, should sit within the arch

For every 1/2" of width you add to the wheel you would need to add 1/4" to the offset to keep the outside edge of the wheel the in the same relative position, so for a 5" wide wheel i would think an ET20 offset should put you in the right ballpark

Thanks this is very helpful.

My wheels have 21A2744 so according to the link you supplied my offset is et24

So for 5” wide I need et29?

Van is 1978 just before change to Van 95

 Thanks

Possibly - best option is to look at what wheels are available and then ask around to see if anyone else has fitted them to get an idea how they fit.

There is also a thread in one of the sections with photos of cars fitted with 10" rims which may help you decide what works
