So after some back round in the welcome section I thought Id create a post about my little updating of the car.

after the car being on the road for some years the interior and paint work were starting to look a bit tired so having the car moved to m own house from the old mans ive decided to give it a little spruce up.

the car was finished a good few years ago around 6-7yrs so as ive aged my taste have shall we say matured  :shifty:

so the plan is to keep the engine as is its a 998cc with a stage one kit and although i feel it could do with a bit more oomf its a tried and tested engine where ive had no problems with it.  theres a few spare kicking about in the old mans garage so will probs look at doing with something with ones of these when the cars back on the road and running.

the main things:

colour change i was going to go with yellow and black with black accents but im worried it will look to much like a britax cooper copy so am thinking about the new bmw sao paulo yellow (or as similar i can get) this will be a major learning curve as even though ur cars are self painted and a good finish is achieved at 28 im going to give it a go myself

this sort of colour

some subtle stying changes then

im liking the look of the led headlights with day time running lights in them

smoothed out bulk head

flush areospace fuel filler

an actual radio since ive never had one of these in a mini   but im leaning towards the idea of a multi media console

i also had the idea of making the car look as sleek as possible so dont want wing mirrors so thought about cameras on the doors/a panels and then one in the boot lid to act as a rear view mirror displayed on the multimedia screen

with the smooth bulk head and wiper motor moved inside the car the original centre binnacle dash wont work so will have to go to a flush dash but dont want the dash rail covers to be fitted

the dash its self i like the perforated sheet idea ive seen on here and was thinking car colour with the mesh painted black

also i need a new head lining as mine was terrible and some new sun visors

i currently have rover 25 front seats which look lovely and are very comfy but these are now very tired and am thinking of different seats but unsure what to go for

ill also give the running gear and over haul and check and replace everything thats needed

some photos of where i am

start of the smoothing of the bulk head

this is now 99% welded in but have run out wire so will need to pick some up

im now waiting for some bits to turn up to carry on

with the idea of adding so much new electronics im thinking of stripping the loom testing everything and re wrapping with added wires for the new electronics the loom is in a bit of a state as its part 72 loom part 82 mayfair loom and then part get it running loom

car electronics are mistery to me though so a bit nervous and in the dark of what this will intail.

no real time scale on this as im getting married next year and expecting my first in july so a bit of a silly time to start something like this but i always do thing backwards

i have vision in my head so hopefully itll come out looking something like it

obviously the triangles from wings to the bulkhead are strengtheners, how stupid would i be to cut these out just to open the bay up and approve the sight lines now that im trying to smooth/ declutter the engine bay as much as i can

so plodding along slowly with the resto, not very good at remembering to take pictures!!! >_<

ill get some on tuesday when im off again.

but some good progress all welding complete not that it needed anything just some tidying up in a few places and cosmetic changes,

the underneath of the car is all ready for paint! well in nearly just waiting on some seam sealer and a litre of gravitex to turn up as i took it off in the places that looked like rust was coming through but good news nothing just some staining and chips

the roof is all rubbed down and depending on the type of paint i go for ready to be painted

filler work on the main body has been started

ive moved the wiper motor and made the mounts for it along with welding some nuts on the back of the bulkhead to take the fuse box etc ive welded 4 on there as im not sure of the final build spec so thought these would be enough or atleast id be able to use them to locate other brackets if need be

due to changing the location of the wiper motor im going to have to have a full dash so have also welded brackets in to accomeidate this.
