Howdy! (just kidding, we don't say that )

I'm Kenneth and live in Dallas, Texas, though I'm originally from Florida.

Since living in Texas, I got myself a 1990 Rover Mini Racing Green and have owned it for about 3.5 years so far! It started as someone else's mostly decent attempt at a clean Mini, but there were loads of hidden crimes as I'm sure we're all accustomed to, unfortunately. It started as BRG back in France, but after a collision, it was painted orange for whatever reason, and then the owner before me painted pearl orange on top of that. The engine overheated when I opened the heater valve after 9 months of ownership, and I rebuilt the original 998 before I eventually decided to grab the 1293 engine that ClassicMiniDIY built last year. I couldn't be happier. It has received tons of upgrades, replacements, and I'm on the long road toward improving the styling to meet my ever shifting ideas.

Specs:

1293 A+ built by Classic Mini DIY

Swiftune heritage pistons

EVO001 camshaft

Big valve head built by 7 Mini Enterprises

Close ratio Evo gears

3.1 diff

standard rockers

MED ST1 lightened flywheel

Stainless Steel LCB + RC40 DTM twin box exhaust

HIF44/Alloy intake

Lowered GAZ Dampers

Red Dot cones & Hi-lo's

Drilled/slotted front discs & Superfins

Twin tanks

P700 lights

Reverse spot

Wing mirrors

etc.

My longest trip to date has to be from Texas to Virginia, where in one shot I drove from Dallas, Texas to Wytheville, Virginia over the course of 28 hours. I stopped for food and fuel, and a couple hours to wash my car in Charlotte, North Carolina so that Cole could check out the engine in my Mini for the first time. I camped with it for the next two weeks as I drove all around the east coast of the USA and by the time I got back to Dallas I had driven 4000 miles. The only part that actually failed was a weeping water pump which was a quick fix, and a spinning coil inside of its bracket that unplugged the black lead into my dizzy.

I've posted on here before about tuning, but felt it was time to introduce myself :) I'll be posting more in the future and starting my own thread as I begin to dive deeper with styling and improvements, and to document the build so far from where I started. I have a huge collection of photos throughout my ownership!

Hey! Welcome! Well there's plenty of road miles in the US of A to eat up in your mini! 4000 to start with ain't half bad!! πŸ˜‰
Glad you're enjoying it and glad that you're using it!! These little cars were designed to be used. The more they're used the more reliable they become.
I have a 1990 Rover Mini Flame Red, so identical to yours...well they're not any longer πŸ˜‰

Keep the updates and pics coming. It's great to see these cars in all their guises from all around the world! πŸ‘

HI Ken! Glad to see you here, too!

(I drove my MINI towing my Mini from KC to Wytheville, only a 2500 miler round trip for me! Plus I'm not as young as Kenneth!)
