If you go back to your last thread on Gearboxes and Gear Ratios;-
https://www.theminif...-which-gearset/
I included a cheat sheet with all the 4 synchro gearsets, their ratios and their part numbers. The Gears applicable to the Cooper S Set are in Black, grab all those part numbers, punch them in to Mini Spares and see what they have available new. Off hand, I think they have them all.

Thanks Spider, I remember your excellent sheet but i'm too thick to work out what would work with what.
I'll have a look for those part numbers.

OK, I recall that you have a complete DAM5626 Gearbox (not just the case) with unknown gears inside it.
Assuming that all parts inside it are Serviceable, you can use the Mainshaft, 1st Gear and Reverse from that.
You'll need;-
2nd Gear 22G1094
3rd Gear 22G1095
1st Motion Shaft DAM3167
Laygear DAM3168 or 22G1040
The DAM3169 Laygear is the better one to use and will fit on the 3 step Layshaft you have but these were only used for about 2 years and are very rare. If you find you need to use the 22G1040 Laygear, you;ll need the earlier 2 step Layshaft and bearings to suit. Regardless of which Laygear is fitted, the end float will need to be checked and adjusted accordingly.
I'm sure that while the gearbox was in bits, you'd do at the very least a basic overhaul, replacing all the bearings and 'wear' parts as well as checking all other parts.

It does appear to be a 1968 - 1978 type 3rd gear. These weren't unique to the Cooper S but used in all Minis in that period, so don't pay Cooper S Tax for it ! Same with 2nd Gear.

Thanks Spider, I have the Minispares version coming for the second gear and the first motion shaft. MS were out of the 3rd though and couldn't tell me when they would next have a 3rd gear in. So it was off to eBay.
Hard to tell from a photo i know but does the clearance look ok ?

From a look, it appears OK.
