Hi all,

Currently rebuilding my 1275 A+ engine. It had a standard drive slot cam in it, I’ve been offered a good kent 276 spider drive cam for the rebuild.

I assume that spider drive and slot drive cams are interchangeable? Obviously with the correct oil pump. Is this true?

Cheers!
Angus

Yes they are. There are sports with slots in to use the slot drive pumps as well.

Be sure to check the new oil pump clearances.

Just check you can get a Spyder that goes in the end of the Cam to Drive the Pump, these have been NLA for a very long time now. There's other non-standard adaptors for slot drive pumps but I'm not crazy about them.

Is worth mentioning that a lot of people, including me, don’ consider the 276 to be the best of cams especially when compared to some more modern cams.
