PEOPLE WHO GIVE CARS HUMAN/ANIMAL NAMES

This is something I've never understood, to me a car can have one of two names either ' You beauty ' when it gets to where you want to go, or ' You bas#$%d ' when it doesn't, to give a car a human/animal name just seems plain weird, it can't understand you if you throw a stick it can't retrieve it ( mainly animal),if you call its name it won't come to you (Animal/Human), its just a mechanical object that you like ( if you love it I strongly suggest you see a specialist) . Do people who name cars also name other inanimate objects, 'poppy the toaster ' 'frosty the freezer' or 'Wishy the washing machine ' for example
It just seems plain weird

Never understood why either, it seems more common with Mini owners to name their cars but each to their own.....

I fall into this genre as we named my Clubby Paddy when we first bought him but there was a minor back story to that otherwise he would have just been referred to as clubby in day to day chat etc.

Other than that any other of my cars are what they are or were as the case maybe.

We had a Nissan Juke called Daisy, you'll get it if you're of a certain age.

It is probably the kids who first give car a name, prbably co es from Bob the Builder.
The other point to remember is all mechanical things are female which is why they are tempramental and moody. (ducks as SWMBO launches crockery) ;-)

However in this new 'woke' world of today before naming your Mini, you must first give it the option to “self-identify” their chosen gender......

When you've got multiples it's easier to name them: "The mini is running a bit low on fuel" - "Which one, we have 3?!"

Have always named all my cars, friends do too.  Even a boring car can develop a character once named!
