So if it looked like that at 400 miles how did it fail after 700?It had already failed,Steve..

This was a different tyre on a different car. Just the same brand/model of tyre

The Curb weight (without a driver)for a mi i is around 617 kg.

The weightload index for a 69T tyre is less than 335kg.

Speed rating recommended of at least 92 or above is recommended by tyre manufacturers.

The speed rating part (the T in this case....) would be good for cars with a max speed of 118 mph(suspect all good that part....)

Think this tyre is more a trailer tyre...

Hope this explains things

I had a similar thing happen two years ago with some Marshall KR11 tyres.  Not a blow out but a change in shape of the casing.  My van came with these tyres, they were about four years old and obviously had hardly been used.  I did a few thousand miles on them until one one brisk trip around a roundabout, upon joining the dual carriageway there was an awful vibration.  Once I was able to stop I eventually realized the n/s/f tyre had gone out of shape.  I stuck the spare on and got home and then ordered a set of new Blockley tyres.  Now they are much better quality.

What they started off looking like:

How one ended up:

I've driven on all sorts of tyres over the years and never had one do this.  I too wonder if the Marshall's are trailer tyres - it's about all they're good for.  They also had a pointlessly small amount of wet grip too.
