Hi All,

Looks like my Diff is worn (will find out for sure hopefully next week when i pull the engine).

I will replace with X pin from mini spares (when they are in stock) what else should i replace or look at while I have the diff out (only removing diff will not be opening gearbox - money and time constraints)?

Now I presume the following for sure -

Fiber thrust washers

Output shaft oil seals

Output shaft bearings

Obviously gasket set for the diff cover and covers etc.

Do i need gasket sealant aswell (recommended in a few youtube videos)

What about crown wheel bolts and lock tabs?

Any thoughts and comments would be great😉

X pin diffs have been out of stock everywhere for quite some time and don’t expect them to be in stock any time soon.

I would just pull it and see what the issues are before planning anyone.

I agree with Nic, the law of Sod will dictate what ever bits you have, somthing else will be needed LOL.

But that said,

bearings you bean the big one on the diff dont you? not the bronze one in the output flange?  in which case, yeah you'll need at least one of those as you will need to pull one off to get at the crown wheel bolts.

the ones mentioned above in the flanges need to be reamed to size IIRC, Ive just swapped the whole flange if these were loose ( which is fairly unusual)

gaskets....  drive flange ones and Diff housing ones, some difs dont have gaskets, you'll see when it comes apart, but better to have and not use them.

seals, yep may as well swap the seals, I'd also do the gear selector one while its in bits.

I'd probably have a dif pin on hand in case its worn,

make sure youve got feeler gauges handy

Crown wheel bolts and locking tabs should, be fine to use again..

Also if the diff goes expect it to take something with it... had one go and blocked up gears with metal BiTs.....

Why do you think it is on the way out?
