I am in the process of getting a 1967 Countryman on the road.  This mini has external hinges on the doors but no external mirrors on the body.  Do I need to fit door mirrors and if so is it a case of drilling holes where I think they should go or are the mirrors supposed to be in a certain place for MOT purposes.  Thanks

You'll never legally need anything that the car didn't already have when new. In your case I think an interior mirror suffices. Of course you can add mirrors & there are plenty of options. including some that don't require drilling

It looks to have rubber shock protection fitted....

Let the paint harden up and then fit the mirror(s)

You don't need them for an MOT (should you choose to get one)

After I restored my Mk1, I went through a similar situation, not wanting to drill new shiny painted doors, but after buying those clip on ones, and not being able to see a blimin' thing above 50MPH, because of the vibration, I went with these below, and haven't looked back, apart from in the mirrors!  Id rather be safe and be able to see behind myself.

As it says in the Spares description, these were a common fitment in the 70s, so don't look out of place on an early mini IMHO.

These are the ones with the wider mirror, similar to more modern cars.

Would wing mirrors give a more period look, or not worried about that?
