I’ve seen a couple of people have used them on Mk1-forum.

I`m also interested in the 145 Yokos but I would like to know how they perform rather than how they look on the car.

I feel 165`s do roll around on a 4.5" rim and you loose a bit of sharpness in the steering and without arches they can stick out a bit otherwise I would just be sticking to A008`s.

There are some views on the 145 Blockley tyres on the MK1 forum

It would be nice to know if the 145 Yoko`s share the same compound as the 165`s

Or just feedback from somebody who gives their car a good thrashing :)

Blockleys are looking good for a 145 but are the Yoko`s better ?

I use 165/70 x 10 on 4.5" Minilites on my 1964 'S' which has c.100 bhp and on tarmac rallies it is great. On my 1990 Cooper 1330 road-rally car I have 5" x 10" BWA alloys and use the 165 Yoko 008's. Again, it works fine. Neither car has wheel arch extensions and I have no problems with the wheels sticking out. Remember, the original optional 4.5" wheels for the Cooper 'S' were not fitted with arch extensions.

With a 145 tyre, I have found that handling, especially in the wet, may be improved, but at the expense of best road-holding. I drove an MPI a while back on 145 x 12 Falkens, and it felt just like an early car on 145 x 10. It did not have the grip of a modern 165/70 x 10, but the response and handling were very predictable. It felt very safe, but did not go around corners so quickly. If you feel that a 165 'rolls around' on a 4.5 rim, it might be that your are not running sufficient pressure. I run at 32 psi all round.

From what I have heard, the Blockley SP3 replicas provide 1960's feel.

Maybe most people who drive a classic car do want to have the driving experience which would have existed when the car was new.

Thanks Cooperman, I'm running 28 psi so I`ll give that a go.

The 165`s are a lot cheaper to buy as well :)
