Looks like it has not been run for years.

I would wonder what the rest of the engine looks like.

cleaning anything without removing the head means the crud just goes into the engine to cause problems.

I would be very suspect if the rockers were rusty and as nicklouse said the head needs to be removed to check the bores and clean the head.

Are the rockers all free and moving sufficiently?

Does the oil look thick and black?

Alittle time spent now will save a lot of time later-maybe even stuck road side...

Hold on..... you get to 55mph..... well done.....

I would suggest your issues maybe with mixture or timing more than rust on the rockers...

I agree, I have been fault finding on other issues via Facebook messenger. My advice was to try to fix the mixture with a reprofiled needle etc and run it... Happy to be corrected on that though

Thanks to both of you on the advice.

I’m confident the timing is out on it. I just have no idea how to check it.

I’m thinking you need specialist equipment no?

Going to get AC Todd to come and and try and sort it I think.
