I've endured the hell of removing the clutch clevis pin but dropped it, and the new one, and can't find them anywhere (not behind the carpeting). Can I use a nut and bolt until a new pin(s) arrive?

As a very temporary measure I might consider a bolt with a hole and the R clip, but not a nut and bolt.

It will have rolled into the cross member. Get it out or it will annoy you for years to come.

I put a couple of 5mm magnets in the end of a bit of clear tube over a short bit of old throttle sleeve fished about for the one I dropped and found 2 other old ones, also used it many more times for other dropped items.

Maybe a tricks and tips sticky would be good for this type of thing.
Theres lots of difficult jobs under the bonnet on a mini!

Mine's had an oversized bolt and nut for years.  The pedal hole elongated so someone drilled it out to fit a 5/16 bolt.  I've now sourced a new clutch pedal from Nippy cars and will change it over this winter.

On a clutch it maybe just about acceptable but on the brake it is an absolute not.
Many nuts vibrate loose on a mini, the sudden loss of brake or clutch is a seriuos safety issue.

Not sure the loss of a clutch is a safety issue.

When you are sat at a junction revving the engine due to it being reluctant to idle whilst holding in the clutch failure may be a safety issue,Steve..

You mean wearing out the thrust washers.

When my children were learning to drive they were taught to stay in gear with the clutch in to " be ready to move off"I despaired as they both drove my Mini.They were also encouraged to stop in top gear and "block change" to first when almost stopped,goodbye gearbox.Steve..
