plan of attack;

I first open the heater valve, drain the radiator, the lower hose is the lowest point of the cooling system, there will be hardly any water left in the system.

I than put the hose back on the lower radiatorpipe, remove the thermostat (or do this first), connect a hose to the thermostat housing (which connection?) fill up the system completely with distilled water,  start the engine and keep on filling the extension tank untill clear water comes out. Than drain the system again and fill it with coolant.

will the entire system be flushed this way?

I want to clean the inside of the expansion tank too, any tips? Soaking it in warm water with dishwash tablet? Or cleaning vinegar?

cant reach in there with a brush.

isnt the waterpump pushing ou water faster than I can fill?

 I buy distilled water in plastic gallon jugs, 5 should do it.  After draining the system pour a gallon in, then you will have an empty jug to catch the water being pumped out, you gotta be quick!  Repeat as necessary.

I flushed my cooling system last saturday.

First with tapwater flushing all debris out (wasn't as much as I thought it would be)

Than ran it with destillede water, drained it and in the end filled it with coolant.

During this I saw there is a small crack in my expansion tank, near the neck of the filler.

I informed for a new one, the price made me think again, €170....  for a piece of plastic... ridiculous...

So I will try to fix it... is this plastic glueable?

You may well get an alloy one made for about the same money
