I’m running LP918 Dunlop reverse rims…
my understanding is that the nuts should be radius seat?
1. What is the purpose of the radius, vs a standard taper nut?
2. Can I run taper nuts safely?
Thanks

Yes, you should use the correct rounded seat nut that matches the wheels. If you use the wrong ones you'll likely damage the wheels and run the chance of them coming loose

The purpose is to hold the wheel in place.
A taper nut is not standard. No you can not but you could change the inserts.
if you look at the history of the Mini wheels you will see there are a few different standard nuts used. They are not interchangeable.
for fun.
VW OE wheel nuts are radius for there vehicles built in the 90-00 (maybe a greater range but I am not aware of this) are radius (steel or alloy) after market ones are mainly taper fitting. Some people fitted aftermarket shiny new nuts to their old OE wheels, thinking all alloy wheels use the same nut, they then wondered why their wheels fell off.

Thanks chaps.
It was my understanding that radius nuts were essential, but thought I’d check…
Reason is… bought some new ‘radius’ nuts off eBay and the seller sent tapered… then said they were out of stock of the radius type!
my thinking is they are trying their luck to get rid of a load of 3/8-24 nuts!
will return and get from minispares as I should have in the beginning!
