Hi, I have a 92 mini and I'm renewing the front subframe teardrop mounts but the hole in the subframe is not lined up (higher) than the centre of the mount. Any tips on how to get the bolt through?
I need to raise the body relative to the subframe but can't figure out how to do it.

Loosen the other subframe mounts

Makes sense and I guess loosening the other mounts will drop the subframe a little? I've had the tower bolts off to do the suspension but I've not investigated the rear ones yet

Yes that's what you're trying to do, ideally you need to lift the body of the car slightly to let the subframe and engine drop as needed

I had the same problem. What I done was loosen floor mounts, remove tower bolts then used a pry bar ( gently!) on top the subframe tower to tilt the subrame forward. Whilst holding in bar in place this allowed me to easily line up teardrops.

Thanks for the advice, I loosened off the tower and rear bolts then a bit of jiggling around lined everything up. New towing eyes in with new mounts just need to add some shims into the gap between the mount and the subframe. I'm planning to do it once I can roll the car onto level ground so see how it sits
