Can someone decode this vin number for a car I'm interested in.

XC2S1N1024384B

It's left hand steer, so I'm guessing from Germany or some such

Post a pic of the car and the VIN plate (leave out last few digits) and we’ll help with year.

Read the notes on Mini Mania, could be 1969 to 1974. Even if left hand drive, all minis except some knock down kits were built in U.K.

Not correct. As in this case the B at the end says it was Belgium built.

Then read the info on the Mini Wiki page and see what matches your car so you can work out the version.

I am not going to go through the vin layouts to see what version your vin best suits. As you can do it just as well.

nothing wrong with the info on MMs page it is correct.

If my memory deserves well, from MM information it should be a 1100 (letter C) round nose.

Mine is XL2S (998) and VIN starts with 1147xxxB, first registration in april 1979.

I think from my research they did like 2000 cars / week, but not sure at all with that.

No chance to ask for a heritage certificate as it's Belgium built and there are no records.

As above -that VIN number was issued to a 1100 Mini Special built at the Seneffe plant in Belgium around 1979....

however that VIN plate could now be riveted on any old wreck! so if you go to see it take someone along who REALLY knows their Minis.

OK thanks

The car appears to be a 1275 injected car LH steer.  I had assumed it was from the continent.
