Hi All,

I need to replace the Primary Gear Bushes on my daughter's 1988 998cc Mini Designer. I understand that the front bush (DAM8887) is no longer available and the rear (22G109) is difficult to come by. Minispares saying the next delivery expected in September, however I have managed to get hold of two from Somerford. My idea being that hopefully the extra rear can be adjusted to replace the front. Turning to all the wealth of knowledge out there in the great wide world is this a feasible way of replacing the front discontinued bush or are there any other suggestions.

Regards Paddy

Be careful what you buy;-

https://www.theminif...ry-gear-damage/

I have had new genuine Deva material made for making new rear bushes from. Having experienced sever damage and also seen truck loads of the same, I won't use the Silicon Bronze types, which is all most others have.

I believe AC Dodd also has some Deva material for the rear bushes.

If you look around, you should be able to find some Genuine Front Bushes, I know Glacier were one OEM Manufacturer, you can see their mark on the back outer of the bush

I have had the same idea, and purchased 2 bushes a few months back, and was going to give it ago on my old lathe, then discovered that my 4 jaw chuck jaws ain't true at all, and can't even true the gear up in the lathe! Must be possible though.

Hi All,

Thank you for your replies.

Spider this is what is stated on my invoice from Sumerfod   BUSH PRIMARY GEAR REAR-DEVA TYPE-ALL MODELS part No 22G109  so I do believe I have the right type of bush material. Off topic did you see my replies in my other topic "Head Gasket" great advice problem solved, thank you.

Steve thank you for the info I will contact him and see if he can make me a couple of front DEVA Type bushes.

Timmy I think you should do as I am going to do keep the extra rear bush as a spare and contact A C Dodd for a couple of front ones.

All the best Paddy
