Hi there,

Car: 1992 Rover Mini Sprite 1.3

The car had been sitting in the garage for 6 weeks while i was offshore working. When I got back I turned the car on and tried to drive it out of the garage. When pushing the clutch pedal down, it returned but clutch slave cylinder that it pushed, didn't retract so it was stuck in neutal.

I managed to push piston back in (disengage the clutch) but when ever i push it in I have to reset it manually. I have bought a new slave cyclinder and push rod as it was pretty corroded. I have managed to remove the slave cylinder its self with not too much bother but the the clevis pin holding in the push rod seems to be stuck in there (I have removed the needle..)

Any ideas to get this thing out?? Ive tried hitting it from the bottom and soaking it in penetrant oil but not having much luck with this one..

I thought you meant the hard one at the pedal end  :D

I dont know what tools you have but I would get some heat on it. Use a big set of pliers to push on one end of the pin and one end on the body of the clutch lever.

Or get a flat head screw driver and bang it into the top hat end (where youve circled red) just create some movement.

Or use a suitably sized c clamp, put an oversized socket on the top hat end and get turning.

I added some heat earleir today, and then pin is not budging at all, I'll need to try get a c-clamp tomorrow and try that out. failing that I guess i will have to cut off the top can and try hit it out from the top

Can you take the other pin out and then put the arm on the bench in a vice ?

Stick some vice grips on it and twist until it is free, there may be grooves worn in it trapping it in the pin.Steve..
