I have a 62 Morris Mini woody estate wagon. Has been in the family for a number of years. Driven some , stored mostly last 15 years.

recently purchased a 79 , 1275 engine package along with front disc set up.

getting ready, SOON to make the swap.

curious if there is advise out there as to how to avoid pitfalls, what to look out for etc

Depends what the package is. Subframes are not the same fitting on those years. And the steering racks/arms could be different angles.
