I am new to Minis, I have a 1993 Spi Mini. Sometimes the engine will keep running when I turn the key off, Not talking about run on, it will continue to run until you disconnect the coil. With the switch off, I do get the alternator light, if I go back to the run position the light goes off. I can even pull the key out and it continues to run. It has happened a couple of times, seems like something is going bad. Could this be a bad ignition switch? Any help would be appreciated.

is this a problem that has just started ? have you been doing any electrical jobs on your car ? if the answer is no then I would say it is the ignition switch.
