Does anyone know what width of wheel/tyre fits in the spare wheel well in a 79 Clubman Estate and will actually allow the boot board to sit properly in place on top?

I've got a standard 145R10 in the well of a 1980 and it's snug.  Personally I doubt anything more than 145 has a hope.

Pretty certain 165/70/10 didn't fit in the spare wheel well of my old 71 clubman estate.

Anything wider than a Cooper S steel rim will not fit (1980 CE with boot board) I actually remade my boot board and spaced the metal plate a few mm with washers hidden in non silicon sealant then screwed on too, I also had to gently lift the flange that the clips slide onto so the board sits level. Once fitted it looks stock.

I have the Cooper S steel reproduction rims on my car.

Apologies for the long reply 🤔😁

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Yeah my 165/70/10 don't fit by miles. Tried the 12 inch standard steel spare from my 88 city just to see...better but still no luck. I've got a skinny little one from a mark one but it's still got a crossply on it. Might just have to go with that though.
