The single big stripe that goes across the front from wheel arch to wheel arch, what is the history?  I've seen a similar stripe on many cars, both road and competition, but I can't recall them years ago and can't find any reference to them. Look good though!

I'm sure others will know more but it sounds like you're talking about the 1275GT stripe?  (was it on other models as well?)  im sure people have added it to non GT cars as well no doubt

I'm not sure I've seen them on Clubman shells. This is the style, on the Nick Padmore's Mini, some are even wider bands:

Usually white stripe on blue ground were the Rob Walker team cars up to the Lotus 72 for Graham Hill. Of course there were also Rob-Walker-Mini which had this colour-scheme.

Is it correct that British racing colour was green, but the Scottish team mostly had dark blue on their cars? Ecurie Ecosse, Rob Walker....

Yes, it was known as 'British Racing Green' a description still often in use today for that shade of green.

The Australian Clubman GT had this stripe across the bonnet and wings as standard.
