Rear Window Latch Won't Stay Open

Best Answer Johnmar , 16 August 2022 - 05:57 PM

Mine are secured more towards the rubber. Is the rubber seated all the way over the panel?

If so, the only thing to do is to relocate the screw holes (in the body or the window hinge) moving the bracket en pivotpoint forward so the next part (seen from the pivot point) clear the rubber when pushed rearwards over center.

As a work arround and out of the box: you could bend a bar of metal (1 or 2 mm thick, and as wide as the metal of the hinge from pivot near rubber towards the center pivot. Bent it in the curvature of the arm running from pivot 1 (near the rubber), allong the center pivot (2) until it reached the outside pivot(3). Place this bar allongside the hinge and secure it with a clothespin between pivot 1 and 2. The bar will prevent the hing collapsing forward and therefore the window will stay open.

Hey All,

My understanding is that the rear window latches are over center latches. My window latches run into the window seal before coming even close to over center. What am I doing wrong?

I thought the rubber was on all the way. The latch must have been holding it up as when I removed that latch, I could get it on further. It works better now. Thanks!
