Hi,

I'm just about to start welding in some patch panels, would epoxy primer be enough to protect the new welds from rusting as it might be a while until it gets a full spray? The car will be outside under a cover.
If not what should I do?
Thank you.

Ive been putting kurust on my welding and bare metal with a blast of primer over the top but to be honest the kurust on its own is doing the job.
My mini is in a garage though so is protected to a degree anyway.

Wire wheel the area then pump zinc rich primer through it.

For me things like like inner and outer sills, I epoxy prime then topcoat the insides, then all areas to be welded I use zinc rich weld through primer.

Once all of the welding is done and with the car being outside I would waxoyl or Bilt Hamber the internal areas. All external I use epoxy primer.

Epoxy will be fine.....both sides if possible, after thoroughly dressing the welds as that's where rust often starts
