Just quick question, should my ‘62 Mk1 850’s rear number plate hanger/panel be black or body colour? Can’t seem to find what was original.

The Mk1/Mk2 numberplate hanger panel was black on UK built Minis.

I always thought the Australian Minis had body colour flaps but a quick google shows adverts for the 850 with them painted black.

Phew, I just painted mine black.

I painted mine black as well - knew it was wrong for my K but prefer it that way.

The ones on mine are all body colour but it makes no difference as I have taken them off the car as I think they look $#!£.

Refitted it today and I like it. The black goes well with the “new” BR green.
