Well i have made life a lot easier for myself and finally sussed this piggish job. Seems that the clips as supplied are impossible to fit . Removing the old ones is also a pain as you have to destroy them to get them out.
.Firstly you cannot slide them on to the rubber as the gap is too small and secondly the tangs that go into the hole are too wide so will not let you press them in hence a manual modification for fitting.is required
Firstly bend up the wide tag that goes into the rubber groove to give you clearence.I used an external circlip pliers to do this. Then squeeze the tangs that go into the door closer together with your fingers.
Secondly, with the rubber in poition on the door, attach the wide tang into the rubber groove and press it back into the original position as supplied.
LIne up the tangs with the hole and push in. It is not easy and sometimes becomes misalligned. If on pressing it only goes half way a tap with the hammer on the outside of the rubber to get it home. Mind the paint!.
Whoever came up with this design had no conception of assembly time as it took we about 2 hours to do both doors. No wonder Leyland lost money on every Mini they sold.
