Hi

1990 carb cooper 1275 engine rebuild.

Had the inlet valve seats increased to 35.6mm about 18mths ago (exhaust seats are original).  Today I checked the valve installed height. I measured the valve tip to the machined face on the head & found the inlet valve tips are all higher than the exhaust, worst case by 22 thou (highest inlet is 1.224 " & lowest exhaust is 1.202"). No surprise I suppose since inlets were recut. Its not due to valve length as the exhausts are actually 10 thou longer than the inlets.

I can't find what the valve tip height should be - most posts are about valve spring heights - but I assume they should be all the same & then the rocker geometry can be set to suit.

Is this a big problem? If yes can I get the valve tips machined to correct the valve height. I don't particularly want to recut the exhaust seats if possible.

Personally I wouldn't worry in the slightest.

surely this is the reason why the rocker arms are adjustable

Indeed, though I suspect the OP is concerned about a change in the rocker system geometry.
