Its been sometime since ive been on here, and wanted to share a recent project i started back in May. basically taking the Running gear from an Audi 1.8T. so far ive made some great progress. engine and trans are now mounted and im using a 03 miata rear subframe assembly. A bunch of hiccups started along the way as expected but pretty sure i have sorted most of them. as of recently, i just sorted out the steering rack location in my latest video, feel free to check it out and leave opinions along the way! While i was moving a head. I realized upon fitting the steering knuckles that they simply werent going to line up with the new lowered steering rack tie rod ends. A bunch of head scratching and caffeine but think we solved the issue.

Some new goodies have arrived and the car is now on all four wheels. Sitting a little low to the ground, ill have some fiddling to doo. Other than that, it feels good to see her sitting finally

Absolutely!! I welded the planetary gears in the trans a
So there will always be power to the rear drive train. Simply just bot using the front wheel drive. I slim down the flanges and away with that. Also the front axles would never line up anyways haha. But yeaa. I want to just make a rwd donut machine thats fun in the streets and mayb possibly try and drift this thing 😅

Great work, I have fond memories of making my own suspension on a kit car, bottom and top wishbone locations and angles the lot, no bump steer or anything and worked really well.

Are you happy welding those cast arms?

thats awesome man!! i will still have to feddle with bump steer but i think im going in the right direction anyways hahah. and i mean i feel pretty confident in the welds, the only thing is, i didnt pre heat the cast first but its a little late for that now uggg. back in 2009, i had a lifted jeep with big tires and i fitted bigger dana 60 axles underneath. i welded one of the control arm mounts to the front differential casing which was cast and it held really nice for a good 2 years until one snowy day i was coming around a tight corner and some guy cut me off which forced me to drive into someones front yard where there was a giant snow bank. i hit the bank and the mount snapped off the casing. that was stick welded also but yeah that was the only time i had a weld fail on mee. in this mini case, mayb i could add metal bits around it for insurance??
