I searched for years the source of a super annoying metal on metal rattle around 4000rpm. i was sure the rattle came somewhere from behind the dashboard. i checked everithing... engine, heater, speedo, exhaust, brakelines...
finaly i changed the two steering rack bushes and the rattle is gone... i switched from a felt bush to nylon bush. awesome upgrade.
takes maybe 1h to change and cost 5£.
So if you have a loud rattle check your steering for any movement.
