"The 1986 RS Cosworth - which has 8,795 miles on the clock from new - is now the most expensive Sierra ever. It not only exceeded the £110,000 pre-sale higher estimate but eclipsed the previous record by £10,350. It's considered not the most exclusive of all Fast Ford Sierras, with the RS500 the one that's most sought-after. Another eight vehicles achieved world record prices - and three UK records - at the Silverstone Auctions event hosted on Saturday and Sunday as part of the NEC Classic Motor Show."

"A 1972 Mk1 Ford Transit sold for £61,875, which is the most anyone has ever paid for a classic Transit at the block.
The '72 example is a twin-wheel, long-wheel-base version of the Panel Custom Van, which first launched to the UK market in 1965.
The auction house described it ahead of the weekend's bidding as a 'best-of-breed' contender, saying collectors were being offered an 'unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a rather special example of what is becoming a highly collectable vehicle'.
Being a 'custom' model, it boasts features such as both left and right-hand side loading doors, up-and-over barn doors, improved seats and wood-effect dashboard trim."

When real vehicles become investment vehicles.

I skimmed the article and noticed the comment - 'there was a lot of European interest at the auction' - which reminded me of a trip to Classic Remise in Düsseldorf a few years back. While we were there someone was running a packed training course on investing in classic cars including fractional ownership.

...I suspect it'll be put in a storage unit somewhere with it's ownership (or parts thereof) traded endlessly until it's values drops again to the point it's no longer worthy of investment (likely when anyone that knows what an old Ford is has passed on).

Wonder if Paul Linfoot Racing had any involvement.
