My Haynes manual says spark plug gap of 0.032 inch (0.8mm) for electronic ignition, but have seen various sources saying up to 0.050 inch. I have a 998 with the following spec that is and was wondering what gap people would recommend for this spec. I’m currently at the 0.032 inch, just not sure if it’s modded enough to need something else.

998cc A+ block - Bored to 0.060" & skimmed

Compression ratio 10.5:1
Crank - 998cc Re-ground
Head - 12G295 skimmed by 0.050"
Pistons - P-22463 +0.060" Flat Top
Cam - Minispares Evolution001
Timing chain - 3H2127EVO timing chain (simplex)
Final Drive - 3.44
C-AEG421 4.48kg Lightened Flywheel

HIF38 Carb

MS stage 1 kit with K&N in a Vizard modded original airbox

Distributor - As recommended by MS to go with cam http://www.minispare...|Back to search

Spark plugs - BP6RES

Coil - GCL143 As recommended by MS for the dizzy

thanks

I'd say stick to the Haynes manual suggestion of 32 thou as you have the coil for electronic ignition.

If you’ve got a 0.9 ohm coil and no ballast you can run a fairly wide gap as that’s a lot of coil power
